WARNING: This is not a Happy Post | National Child Abuse Statistics

In: Just Because

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month – This national epidemic is  larger than you might think.  I’m not trying to depress anyone – but I think that sometimes we lose perspective in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  We might see a post on Facebook about Child Abuse Awareness Month that makes us pause for a minute…and be disgusted…and then we move on to the next post or item on our to do list.  Seldom do we stop and truly think about how startling statistics of abuse are  in America.

I have a personal connection to this issue.  I host a fundraiser event for victims every year.  And even I had lost a bit of perspective.

Denver Zoo Day | Personal

In: Just Because

One of G’s favorite places to go is the  Denver Zoo.  When he was just a little guy, he and daddy would go on an almost weekly basis.  We hadn’t been in about a year so we took advantage of a glorious 60 degree Colorado winter day last week (before the 6 inches of snow).  We had a great time and I must admit that I am really impressed with the new Elephant exhibit.  The highlight was definitely seeing Rosie (the howler monkey hanging off of the chain link).  When I worked at the Zoo she was just months old – it’s been fun watching her grow up.  Amazingly, she still recognizes my voice and will come down to the front of the exhibit to say “hi” when I call her!

Why Invest in Custom Photography | Guest Post via Design Aglow

THEFSTOPSHERE_INVESTMENT_IN_CUSTOM_PHOTOGRAPHY_021313

The explosion of digital photography, online sharing, home printing, and social media over the last decade makes it easier than ever to capture those everyday (and special) moments. We are thrilled that the art of photography has become more accessible to the hobbyist. Often times our clients have top of the line gear, similar to ours, and are well versed in how to use it.  But even with all of the tools and resources so widely available, and the ability to capture the every day, nothing beats the work of an accomplished professional photographer to document your family, in its entirety.  Yes, we know you’ll be in some of the images at your cousin’s wedding… and  of course there are all your own family milestones… but the return on the investment of capturing who you are, today, is enormous.  There is so much to gain from a custom, professional photography session, one that is created specifically for you, solely for that purpose.

Yeah, I know… but really, why… why do I need to hire a professional to do that?

HI…..

Welcome to the “behind the lens” peek into Contemporary Expressions Photography - an upscale urban photography boutique in Downtown Denver. I'm Tanja Butler-Melone and this is just the little corner of the internet where I’m able to share my passion with all of you, give you a peek at recent sessions, keep you updated on studio promotions and goings-on, and offer a little glimpse into my world…a world I cherish —– whether I’m looking at it through the lens or with both eyes wide open!

Kick back…take a look around…quack like a duck if it makes you smile…and remember – life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!
