Well, as many of you may already know, voting was so intense that you all overloaded our server! But, after a short downtime – we managed to get back up and running and voting went NUTS in the final hours. So, we tallied a whopping total of 836 votes! HOLY WOW! Not only was the voting intense, but it was CLOSE! And, yes, I’m teasing you since winners will not be announced until our Open House on —– THE DATE HAS CHANGED —— March 17th.

So (see now I’m going to do it on purpose) I was sitting here in the Loft at the end of last year staring at my sad, naked walls trying to decide when I would have the time and energy to go through sessions to choose photos to decorate said sad walls. Then, inspiration smacked me upside the head (or was that Katie trying to get my attention)…why not shoot NEW sessions! And that’s what I’m doing. I’ve decided to shoot all new mini sessions for the sole purposes of having a CONTEST to create art for the walls.
Here’s the skinny:
I will be shooting Casting Call mini sessions through February 15th for kiddos ages 4 mos to 14. Each session will be 15 minutes (approximately) – the sole purpose of which is to get ONE image that I truly LOVE. I will post all of my favorites to the blog in late February and will open it up to the public to vote on which images everyone thinks should grace my walls. In addition, I will print my favorite image as an 8×10 gift for each participant.
Winners of the online voting will be revealed at our March 10th Open House! Not only that – every winner will receive a coupon for a complimentary full session!

We created the Express Session line a couple of years ago for those clients who want a fun, casual, and abbreviated session with just a “taste” of the custom portraiture experience. So, as most of you know by now (given my FB blasts – LOL) Santa was at the studio this past weekend. WHAT a fun time. It was so great to have such a “laid-back” atmosphere for Santa visits. No lines. No stress. No pressure. When the kidlettes were a little timid, Santa had no problems getting down on the floor with them (sometimes a bit stealth-like), playing with toys, waiting it out. Mrs. Clause was on hand for story time and handing out gifts and dispensing cheer (and providing that “grandmotherly touch” that we needed at times). And CORRIE – again – saved the day with her amazing organizational skills, steadfast support, and overall friendship!!! While this was our first year of santa at the studio, it definitely will NOT be our last. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
Yep – the Big Man in the red suit is headed our way for photos, fun, and more! AND….to make it even better – his darling wife is joining him to read stories to the kids. So, instead of heading to the Mall, fighting the crowds, getting 3 seconds of “quality time” with St. Nick along with 200 other screaming happy toddlers – come see us. We’ll have cocoa, snacks, gift bags, and professional quality images!

November is upon us, and last night I found myself frantically trying to get a Christmas list together – because, like every year, I swore I was going to do my holiday shopping in the summer and didn’t! So, there I sat, going through my list, struggling for ideas – except TWO of my fabulous friends! Two people on my list ALWAYS get calendars – every year, no exception, been going on this way FOREVER. Last year, I did photo calendars for each of them, and they were a HUGE hit…which got me to thinking about all of you – which, as generally happens when I’m fully engulfed in a stream of consciousness (after too much Halloween candy and 4 hours of Ghost Hunters Live) led to a crazy idea. It kinda made me giddy if you want to know the truth.

As much as I’ve tried to deny it, rework the numbers and dates, bribe the people in records at the state …..I’m officially turning 40! If I’m being perfectly honest, it doesn’t actually bug me at all. I’m quite a happy camper when it comes to my life and my age (OK…I could live without the wrinkles!). So, as Katie and I were sitting here craving chocolate and pondering the meaning of life we realized…..HOLY COW…..tomorrow is JULY! Yes, it sounded a bit like a gasp followed by a few profanity-ish mumblings…Thank goodness we had already brainstormed our X-mas in July promotions (and finished that brainstorming over an ice-tea and hot dogs at Billy’s). So….here they are. Like last year, we will have a different promotion every week – but you MUST call the week of the promotion to take advantage. In addition to the promotions listed, we will be having any day, any time Express Sessions all month long (minus the week that I will be visiting Mickey and Friends in Cali). It’s time for our annual Mom & Me sessions….which, I’ll admit, are some of my favorites every year. These sessions are all about relationships – foregoing the perfect smiles and poses and focusing instead on the special connection between Mommies and their Kiddos.
