Beckstead Workshop | Inspired

In: Just Because, Loft Life, Weddings

Back in late April, I had the honor of hosting David Beckstead’s Colorado workshop (for the Professional Photographers of Colorado) at the Loft.  David is amazing – energetic, giving, creative….and most of all, INSPIRING.  After working with him for a day I felt COMPELLED to step outside of my normal mode of shooting and simply play – play for the fun of creating, play for the challenge, play for the chance to discover something new.  So often we get boxed in to our safe zone, shooting the same way, shooting for the shots that work, shooting what we know.  David’s philosophy is to shoot it new, shoot it different – if it doesn’t work, OH WELL, at least you tried.  And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find something new and unique that you love…I know I did!

Wanda & Bill | Charleston, SC Destination Wedding

In: Weddings

So, about a year ago Wanda came to me with her daughter, Autumn for facebook photos.  Jokingly, she mentioned that she was going to “put these on the internet and find herself a man” – well, guess what….she DID!  She also mentioned that I’d be shooting her wedding when it happened….and, guess what…..I DID.  I might just believe in love at first sight after hearing Wanda and Bill’s fairytale story – right down to the proposal on a private sunset cruise!

OK….so CHARLESTON – WOW!!!   Having never been to South Carolina, I was blown away by the sheer beauty of this town.  I’m going to have to let the photos do the talking, because trying to describe it would never do it justice.  Bill and Wanda were lovely to invite us to all of the family festivities that went along with the wedding as well – Kelly and I had a BLAST over the three days of wedding joyousness!

The wedding festivities kicked off with an Oyster Roast (I even tried my first oyster!)…a family tradition…

The next day we went to visit the site of the wedding – Magnolia Gardens Plantation -  JAW DROPPING!  Moss hanging from the trees, flower in bloom, GREEN (which for this Denver girl was a sight for sore eyes).

Although we had rain….and a bit more rain….and some more rain in the days preceding the ceremony – Wedding Day dawned bright and clear.  The wedding, the details – EVERYTHING was just perfect.  Wanda was a glorious bride, and Bill didn’t stop grinning at her all day.  Makes me smile just to think of them.

HI…..

Welcome to the “behind the lens” peek into Contemporary Expressions Photography - an upscale urban photography boutique in Downtown Denver. This is just the little corner of the internet where I’m able to share my passion with all of you, give you a peek at recent sessions, keep you updated on studio promotions and goings-on, and offer a little glimpse into my world…a world I cherish —– whether I’m looking at it through the lens or with both eyes wide open!

Kick back…take a look around…quack like a duck if it makes you smile…and remember – life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away!
